MDEQ Lifts Water Contact Advisory
No Advisories in Effect Across the Coast

(JACKSON, Miss.)The Mississippi Department of Environmental Quality (MDEQ), through its Beach Monitoring Program, lifted a water contact advisory for a station in Gulfport on Friday. Water samples at this station show the area has attained acceptable bacteria levels.

The advisory has been lifted for the following station:

►Station 8 – Gulfport West Beach – from Maria Avenue to Camp Avenue.

There are no advisories currently in effect across the Mississippi Gulf Coast.


Swimmers are reminded that the Beach Task Force has a standing recommendation that swimming not occur during or within 24 hours of a significant rainfall event.
