The Mississippi Department of Environmental Quality Permit Board reissued the Statewide Wet Deck Log Spray with Recirculation General Permit (MSG17) on May 10, 2011. The permit is reissued for a five-year period that will end on April 30, 2016. This general permit covers the State of Mississippi and authorizes discharges to waters of the State associated with wet deck log spray recirculation systems and other de minimus wastewaters from wet deck log spray recirculation ponds and storm water runoff from construction activities of one acre or more associated with the construction of wet deck log spray recirculation systems. Coverage recipients wishing to be covered under the reissued general permit must submit a Re-coverage Form within 30-days of the date of the Letter of Instruction that will be mailed to active coverage holders. All active coverage recipients should receive a Re-coverage Package containing the General Permit, Letter of Instruction, a Re-coverage Form, and Re-coverage Form Addendum. If you have not received a package by June 1, 2011, you should contact Scott Hodges at 601/961-5672 or Rajeev Gupta at 601/961-5623. The General Permit, the Notice of Intent, the Re-coverage Form, and the Re-coverage Form Addendum may also be found below.
The Wet Deck Log Spray with Recirculation Notice of Intent (WDLS NOI) form is used to apply for coverage under the statewide general permit. The WDLS NOI form is found on this webpage under the “Commonly Used Applications” section. A facility must submit the WDLS NOI along with all required submittals and receive coverage prior to initiating any regulated activities.
If you have any questions concerning the General Permit, the Notice of Intent, or the permitting process for obtaining coverage please contact Scott Hodges, Chief of the Timber and Wood Products Permitting Branch at (601) 961-5672 or by email.
