Public Records Request

Mississippi Code § 25-61-1 “Mississippi Public Records Act of 1983” states that it is the policy of the Mississippi Legislature that public records must be available for inspection by any person unless otherwise provided. MDEQ has and will do everything reasonable to fulfill this policy.
For access to public records maintained by MDEQ, a formal request must be made in writing containing the following information:
  • Name of facility
  • City and county where facility is located
  • Specifics on the type of information requested

MDEQ policy and procedures
The public records office within MDEQ will handle public records requests of the agency in accordance with its Public Records Act related regulations. Any documentation provided to the public pursuant to the Mississippi Public Records Act (Miss. Code Ann.§§ 25-61-1, et seq.), will be reviewed by MDEQ authorized personnel and any Protected PII contained therein must be redacted, to the extent allowed by state law, prior to production.
