DEVELOPING LOCAL COMPREHENSIVE
SOLID WASTE MANAGEMENT PLANS

WHAT: A training course for persons that oversee or participate in the development and implementation of local government solid waste management plans. The course provides information on state laws and regulations that govern the planning process; an introduction to the updated Guidance for Developing Local Solid Waste Management Plans; information on the process by which these local plans must be developed and implemented; and information on grants available from MDEQ to support the development of these local plans.
WHO: The course is designed as training for local government officials, planning and development organizations; consulting firms and other professional firms and other interested parties involved in the development of local, comprehensive solid waste management plans. The course should particularly be attended by those interested in participating in MDEQ grant supported projects. An additional course will be held in central Mississippi. The date and location for that seminar will be announced later.
WHEN: Wednesday, October 29, 2003, beginning at 9:00 a.m. and concluding by 5:00 p.m.
WHERE: Oxford Historic Depot, 102 Depot Street at W. Van Buren Ave., Oxford, Mississippi.
COST: The Seminar is free of charge.
DEADLINE: The deadline for registration is Monday, October 27, 2003.
