|The Gulf of Mexico Alliance is a multi-state forum built to foster regional collaboration to enhance the ecological and economic health of the Gulf of Mexico. In March of 2006, on the heels of hurricane Katrina, the Governors of five Gulf Coast States signed the Gulf of Mexico Alliance Governors’ Action Plan for healthy and resilient coasts. Alabama, Florida, Louisiana, Mississippi and Texas are those five gulf-states that identified the following priority issues:|
- Water quality;
- Habitat conservation and restoration;
- Ecosystem integration and assessment;
- Nutrient and nutrient impact;
- Coastal community resilience; and
- Environmental education.
