BEACH ADVISORY FOR LOCATION IN HANCOCK COUNTY LIFTED
(JACKSON, Miss.) -- The Mississippi Department of Environmental Quality
(MDEQ), through its Beach Monitoring Program, has lifted an advisory
previously issued for a location in Hancock County. The following location
is no longer under advisory:
• Station 3 -- Waveland Beach – with the west end at Oak Boulevard to
the east end at Farve Street.
Water samples show the areas have attained acceptable bacteria levels.
Swimmers are reminded that the Beach Task Force has a standing
recommendation that swimming not occur during or within 24 hours of a
significant rainfall event.
The Gulf Coast Research Laboratory, which performs water sampling of the
Mississippi Gulf Coast beaches for MDEQ, notifies the agency when an area
