The Air Division is responsible for ensuring that air quality within Mississippi is protective of public health and welfare. The division is charged with controlling, preventing, and abating air pollution to achieve compliance with air emission regulations pursuant to the Mississippi Air and Water Pollution Control Act, applicable regulations promulgated by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), and the federal Clean Air Act.

MDEQ hereby provides notice on the opportunity to comment on the proposed amendments to the agency’s asbestos regulations – titled ““Regulations for the Accreditation and Certification of Asbestos Abatement Personnel” (Mississippi Administrative Code, Title 11, Part 2, Chapter 10). The public comment period will begin January 22, 2026, and end February 23, 2026. Any interested party that wishes to provide comment may do by submitting comments (via hand-mail or electronically) to the attention of Mr. Dennis Kelly. In addition, a public hearing will be held virtually via Zoom on Monday, February 23, 2026, at 1:30 pm.
